Khwai 2 nights, 1 night Mababe, 1 night Xaao camp, then 2 night in the delta.
Day 1: We will pick you up from Maun as we setoff on our Moremi adventure at 9am hoping to get there by 1200 noon. We will stop at the park gate for tea while our Guide deals with park access admin, before setting off into the Moremi drive. We will take time to explore the park as our Guide explains the different vegetation and its role in the ecosystem.
We will break off for a light lunch at one of the watering holes to enjoy the herds of animals that will be coming down to quench their thirst. After our lunch we will continue to make some rounds in search of some animals, as we make our way to our campsite late afternoon.
Upon arrival, we will be welcomed into our home for the next 2 nights with a drink and then be ushered to our various tents to freshen up. You will be treated to a hot shower in the privacy of your en-suite tent and proceed to enjoy your campfire dinner. It is during this time when our team will share some of our cultural heritage through story telling.
Day 2; Game drive in Magotho (Khwai community concession) in the morning and then Sundowner along Khwai river in the afternoon.
Rise and shine to a brand-new day to discover and explore the amazing sites of the Khwai. We will start our day with a cup of coffee before we head out on an early morning game drive in order to catch the early birds as they rise as well as the breathtaking sunrise of the Khwai. We will head out to Mogotho, an area housing giant acacia trees popularly known as camel thorn. In this area there is abundant wildlife. We will pick a spot and settle for a picnic brunch that our chef packed for us, as we take-in the sites. A post bush brunch will be followed by a leisurely drive along the river as we head back to camp for a short siesta. This will be followed by late afternoon game drive for sundowners along the Khwai river where we will catch the breath-taking sunset. From the Khwai riverfront we will head back to camp where we will be tantalized by the Chef’s amazing culinary skills through our dinner.
Day 3: Visit Savuti to see rock paintings and hopefully lions and head back Mababe to spend the night.
We will enjoy a light breakfast as we say goodbye to the most amazing landscapes with great memories to carry away. We will depart from Khwai at the crack of dawn on our journey through the Mababe depression enroute to Savuti. Mababe depression is the home to some of Botswana’s beautiful culture and history depicted through rock paintings which we will get to explore. The Mababe depression is a vast landscape that is described as a haven for wildlife in the dry season.
We will have lunch out in the wilderness and then continue on our exploration journey to explore the culture of the 1st settlers of the area, through their rock painting. The Savuti area boundaries lie between Okavango Delta on the west and Chobe National Park on the eastern side. Savuti is a place of charm and immense beauty and boasts one of the greatest concentrations of animals in Southern Africa. The Savuti hosts rock painting that are rarely known by even the most intrepid safari travellers. After a long eventful day we will end our day at our new camp at Mababe.
Day 4: Visit Moremi and drive to Xaoo to spend the night.
Say goodbye to an area that has proven to be a haven for migratory plain game. We will head out to access the renowned Moremi Game Reserve for some great game viewing. Moremi Game Reserve is home to one of the world’s great wildlife species making the area spectacular game viewing and bird watching, including all major naturally occurring herbivore and carnivore species in the region, and over 400 species of birds, many migratory and some endangered. Both Black and White Rhino, while rare to spot, have recently been re-introduced, now making the reserve a ‘Big Five’ destination.
While exploring the Moremi we will stop of at one of the lagoons for lunch. We will continue our expedition in the Moremi through flat plains and watering holes enroute to Xaoo camp where we will be spending the night. When in Xaoo we will get to relax and unwind before the dinner.
Day 5: Visit Elephant Havens in the morning then head to Boro to start the
Mokoro activity.
We will start our day with scrumptious breakfast in Xaoo Camp then set off to Elephant Havens to arrive at 8:45hrs. We will get to meet the orphaned elephants that have been rescued all over Botswana due to different issues including their mothers being killed by farmers in order to rescue their crops. The Elephants are saved and brought for rehabilitation and then reintroduced back to the wild.
At Elephant Havens you will get to meet the orphaned Elephants them as you get educated about this amazing species. All proceeds on this part of the tour go back into caring for these orphaned Elephants and it enables Elephant Havens to continue rescuing baby Elephants all over Botswana and offering them a better and safer life.
After this heartwarming experience we head back to Boro Mokoro station for a trip into the Okavango Delta where you will cruise and enjoy the tranquility of the Okavango Delta. We will then head to camp where a warm shower awaits us and delicious dinner prepared by our renowned Chef awaits.
Day 6: Boat trip into the inner delta (including a short walk after lunch). Head back to refresh and then have a sundowner on the mokoro.
Rise and shine to the tranquil Okavango Delta, as we head into the inner delta where we will be treated to a variety of aquatic animals from birds to crocodiles. We will stop on one of the islands for a picnic lunch followed by a safari walk then board our boat as we head back to camp for a siesta moment. We will then venture out on a short mokoro trip for a sundowner and sunset experience before heading back to camp for a delicious dinner after dinner we will have activities such as traditional delta singing and dancing.
Day 7: We start our morning with an early morning walk and then head back to Maun on mokoro to end tour and arrive in Maun at 12 noon. Those catching earlier flights can skip the walk and catch the boat and arrive in Maun by 9am.
